Delta State Broadcasting Service Plans 24-Hour Broadcast

As part of the transformation agenda of the new DBS management, General Manager of Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Asaba, Mr. Albert Oshogbor has disclosed that the station is set to operate a 24-hour transmission by both the radio and television arms of the state-owned broadcast station.

Oshogbor who disclosed this in an interview recently, explained that the move was aimed at aims at keying the station into the global trend of modern broadcasting.

He said that plans by the station to launch into satellite broadcasting as well as transmission through the Internet (podcasting) and on Ipad. “We intend to be part of the global village because we have since discovered that it is not too difficult. If states like Lagos are on DSTV, then it is possible for us here at DBS to be on DSTV. “So, we will soon launch the station on the Internet and Ipad. It is possible and we are working assiduously towards achieving the dream,” he added.

According to him, management is already training the station’s staff, whom he described as committed, dedicated, resourceful and some of the best brains in the country’s broadcast industry.

He said that the determination by Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chike Ogeah (Esq.) to make DBS, Asaba and its sister station in Warri among the best in the country, is commendable.

Acknowledging the current lack of DBS television signals in parts of Delta North, particularly Agbor axis, the GM disclosed that a new transmitter of wider coverage is being provided by the state government and would be installed at the Ubulu-Uku sub-station to address the problem.

He reaffirmed the present management’s commitment towards justifying the state government’s investment in the station through effective broadcasting. While calling for more dedication and commitment from staff of the station,

Oshogbor said his administration was committed to improving on workers’ welfare. He stressed the need for workers to brace up to the challenges of the transformation agenda or be left behind in the scheme of things.
